JAKARTA, Indonesia – As an annual tradition, about a week or two before the end of Ramadan, the mudik (going home) season starts. It is the period when people return to their hometowns to celebrate Lebaran (Eid) with their family and friends. In order to assist Ford customers driving home for the festive season, Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI) will provide special holiday services along some of most congested roads in Java and Bali.

“There is always a significant amount of vehicles on the roads of Java the week before and after Lebaran,” said Will Angove, president director, FMI. “Ford Motor Indonesia will launch a special Lebaran program to assist Ford vehicle owners as they go on the road to see their families.”

“We estimate an increase in the number of travellers this year. There will be around 32 million people going home, and 13 million people will use their own vehicles. We believe around 93% of the travellers will be concentrated in Java and Bali with 65% using the northern route and 35% the southern route,” said Gumgum Prijadi, director, Customer Service Operations, FMI.

The special holiday service coverage encompasses both the north and south routes in Java. Ford will provide five units of special Ford Mobile Service along the routes from September 7 to 19. The units will be stationed in strategic areas, including Cikampek, Nagrek, Pekalongan, Buntu and Lasem. Three additional units will also be on standby.

Starting on September 9, eight Ford Service Stations will offer 24-hour services that will last through September 19. The 24-hour Service Stations will be located in big cities, namely East Jakarta, West Jakarta, Cirebon, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Malang and Denpasar.

The holiday service announcement was made at the fast-breaking event, where around 100 media representatives were present. The event featured an Islamic musical performance from underprivileged children and a local band, Java Jive, along with an inspirational sermon.
